We Come / We Go

I was recently commissioned by The British Fashion Council to make a fashion film for Yoox.com. The premise of the film was to showcase the sustainable fashion section of the BFC called Estethica. I worked with the Estethica Curator's Flippo Ricci, Orsala De Castro and stylist Charty Durrant to devise a film that showed a selection of their designers in an interesting new way avoiding the cliches of green fashion. The film features model Audrey Marnay in a monochrome cardboard world. The score was composed by Peter Mackenzie, the set by Helen MacIntyre and cinematography by James Moriarty. The title is meant to reflect the cyclical nature of sustainable fashion.

The finished film is available to view at Somerset house during this London Fashion Week plus online on Yoox.com and The London Fashion Week websites.

My Villager's 'Ship of Promises' video is going to be BBC Radio 6's Video of the Week all of this week! I'll be chatting with Nemone about the making of the video at 3pm tomorrow. Conor the singer has just been nominated for the Mercury Music Award so they'll no doubt be talking to him about that too.

BIRDS EYE VIEW FILM FESTIVAL 2009 - FASHION FILM STRAND

On Thursday 12th March the second installment of the fashion strand took place at the ICA. I am very happy to say the event went really well and without any major glitches. We screened twelve of the most current fashion films made by female directors.

We were lucky enough to have a large number of directors and the designers in the audience. The panel discussion went well with five of us on stage. The five included Laura Bradley from SHOWstudio, Ruth Hogben (Gareth Pugh film), Sarah Chatfield (YSL film), Monica Elkelv (Hannah Marhsall film) and myself.

It was very interesting for me being able to interview these directors and find out about how the films were conceived and developed. We also discussed the genre of fashion film and the rapid speed in which it is developing.
