I'm delighted to announce that artist Linder Sterling has just confirmed for the fourth installment of The Birds Eye View Film Festival : Fashion Loves Film strand. The event in March 2011 will focus on fashion and time based media and look at where fashion film sits between art and commerce. I'm also super excited that Julie Verhoeven, Ruth Hogben, Sarah Piantadosi, KT Autela and Quentin Jones have also confirmed. A call for submissions will be going out shortly. Details to follow.

A few weeks ago I went to Budapest for the first time to take part in Hungary's first Fashion Video Festival. I had been invited over to show some of my video work and to act as a judge for the festival's video competition. I had a really fantastic trip and found the standard of work to be really high and imaginative. The overall winner of the competition was filmmaker and photographer Mate Moro (above receiving his award) www.cargocollective.com/matemoro whose beautiful film (above still) really stood out. www.fashionvideofestival.com/about As well as judging and giving a presentation of my own work I took part in a round table discussion with various people from the Hungarian fashion industry about the evolving genre of fashion film. Other international speakers included the amazing pair Andreas Waldschuetz and AdiaTrischler.
I will be co-presenting a talk at the Royal College of Art this Wednesday with Fashion & Textiles research student Nathaniel Beard. We will be joined by artist & fashion designer David Saunders of design label DavidDavid.
The talk is an introduction to fashion & moving image and we are planning a series of lectures throughout the year that will look at the genre of fashion & time based media in more depth.
It's free and starts at 10.30am in Lecture Theatre 2 at the RCA, Kensington Gore on Wednesday 1st.

I was recently commissioned by The British Fashion Council to make a fashion film for Yoox.com. The premise of the film was to showcase the sustainable fashion section of the BFC called Estethica. I worked with the Estethica Curator's Flippo Ricci, Orsala De Castro and stylist Charty Durrant to devise a film that showed a selection of their designers in an interesting new way avoiding the cliches of green fashion. The film features model Audrey Marnay in a monochrome cardboard world. The score was composed by Peter Mackenzie, the set by Helen MacIntyre and cinematography by James Moriarty. The title is meant to reflect the cyclical nature of sustainable fashion.
The finished film is available to view at Somerset house during this London Fashion Week plus online on Yoox.com and The London Fashion Week websites.

My Villager's 'Ship of Promises' video is going to be BBC Radio 6's Video of the Week all of this week! I'll be chatting with Nemone about the making of the video at 3pm tomorrow. Conor the singer has just been nominated for the Mercury Music Award so they'll no doubt be talking to him about that too.

Today I had the honour of being asked back to my old college Central Saint Martin's to be an industry judge for their BA fashion show. As always the show was a spectacle full of surreal, colourful and progressive work. Unfortunately this is the only photo I managed to take as I was so busy scribbling notes. The finale didn't fail to please with six stilt wearing models charging down the catwalk towards us. It kind of reminded me of the amazing scene in Fellini's epic 'Roma'.
